An Awareness Activity on the Importance of Early Breast Cancer Detection

The University Psychological Counseling Department at Al-Sibtain University organized an awareness activity on the occasion of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month on 28 October 2024, under the slogan “Get Screened… for Peace of Mind.” The activity focused on the importance of early detection in increasing the chances of recovery and included awareness lectures, the distribution of health brochures, and open discussions with specialists in psychological and physical health to promote a comprehensive understanding of the disease. The event also highlighted the psychological aspects experienced by patients and the importance of family and community support, with the aim of promoting a culture of regular screening among female students and the university community as a whole

A Training Course Entitled“ Violent Extremism and Its Implications for Human Rights”

The University Psychological Counseling Department, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Department and the Student Activities Department, conducted a training course entitled “Violent Extremism and Its Implications for Human Rights and the Role of Educational Institutions in Addressing It” at the university, with the participation of specialized lecturers from the Civil Defense Directorate. The course addressed key concepts of human rights and their importance in building an aware society, in addition to highlighting the role of institutions and individuals in promoting these values within university and community life. Sincere thanks and appreciation are extended to the Civil Defense lecturers for their valuable cooperation and to everyone who contributed to the success of this course.

The University Psychological Counseling Department at Al-Sibtain University conducted a specialized training workshop entitled “Developing Effective Communication Skills,” held in two sessions on 19 and 30 March 2025, targeting university students from various academic disciplines. The workshop combined theoretical and practical components, covering the following topics: the concepts and types of effective communication, active listening and attentive listening skills, dialogue management and constructive discussion, nonverbal communication and body language, conflict management, and persuasion skills. Through this workshop, the counseling team sought to equip students with essential life and academic skills that enhance their ability to build healthy relationships and communicate effectively within both academic and professional environments. The workshop witnessed active participation and provided an interactive learning environment that encouraged practical application and open discussion
